I have about $50k and some time that I'd love to dedicate to building a small maga business. I'm not technical and don't have any big ideas. But if you see something successful in your town that would work elsewhere or see a need for a maga business/service please let me know.

I made up a game starting with $5 and growing it 5% at a time. Each time I do, I've leveled up (if you calculated that at that first level I had to come up with a quarter, you are right). Do it 250 times and you're at $1,000,000. The really cool thing is you also developed a skill set for making money.

I've been playing this game (using a spreadsheet, awesome budgeting skills (well cause of software called YNAB), and now learning to sell things (think yard sales, Craigs List, quick trades in the stock market, etc.) My husband is gob smacked. We are now working on Level 200 (which really isn't that impressive - the big money is made the last few levels thanks to the compounding effect).

I blogged about it. The blog doesn't sell anything but I'm not sure if it's okay to post it here. You can do a search for "home money game" on Word Press if you're interested. An approach like that may be fun for you while you try to figure out a business idea. You can contact me via the blog (since it's probably off topic here) if you like the idea and want to talk about it.

Do you mean you save $5 dollars, then next time you save 5.25?

No. I just had to grab twenty five cents throw it in with the original 5 and do it again. My vision was to use the $5 to earn the qusrter but I found so much low hanging fruit. I started finding money everywhere (like unused gift cards - that's just one example).
