My wife tolerates me, my adult children think I'm nuts. Sometimes worry they might try to red flag me.
My dad is in the same situation. My mom tolerates him, my brother thinks he's nuts.
I try to go over and shoot the shit with him as much as possible. He's a Vietnam Veteran who struggles a lot, I can't imagine where he would be if he didn't have at least one ally or sounding board.

I can relate. Never thought it'd be an issue with those I trust in my life. I don't broadcast or tell most people that I own guns, but it's really worrying when the state tries to label you a terrorist for your political views.
