OP needs to realize that people who flocked to an idea that someone else is doing something and therefore they don't need to do anything ...

We learned following the draft for vietnam that people who dind't want to fight would just stand there and fire in the air until they die.
Having these conscientious objectors in theater did more harm as the people who wanted to fight and needed people to lay down cover fire died becuse the enemy knew the gun shots weren't even trying to hit them.
