And then some might represent you free if you can get any sort've damages, especially if there is harassment possibly. I would think calling a lawyer or five is always better than not, no matter what your situation is because you always need a heads up on the law whether you are innocent, guilty, or whatever. For free isn't exactly accurate. To be technical its called a contingent agreement, which means they would be owed a percentage of damages collected on behalf of a plaintiff.
In this case, that's practically free given that he didn't expect to be in this situation presumably before today.
