Guys I think the next step big tech is going to pull is to either do one or all of the following under the guise that "anyone right of Mao is an insurrectionist".
A: Get ICANN to start revoking domain registrations.
B: Black-list/unperson domains via DNS (how many ppl are using 8.8.8.8 etc). Possibly just declare certain domains like Parler or the .win as "verbotten" and memory hole them from the DNS tables.
C: if you thought the whole "this claim is dispooted" was bad I can easily see Gulag bringing up the giant red warning page of doom in Chrome before making you click through 3 hidden options just to get through or even at all (think of how bad they act when a site does not have HTTPS).
OK now for solutions: I think what we need to counter this is at bare minimum a handful of DNS servers where we can hard-code the .win and any others we need into the table. Even better but more complicated would be a VPN into our own splinter of the internet where we have the .win and others accessible while going through the VPN. I envision this being similar to when you would modem dial into your local BBS like in the early & mid 90's.
anyone with ideas feel free to chime in as well.
you are correct. interestingly, if section 230 were repealed it could make it worse because people could sue the internet providers (section 230 isnt really just about sites like facebook or twitter) its about the service provider which includes the ISP/telecom. though, the current social climate of cancel culture makes your prediction likely. companies will be pressured in the name of wokism to boot any “dissidents”.
True, but I doubt they would craft a revision that makes them liable.
