Well I live in the boondocks and get mid tier internet for a high price. I would welcome an alternative. I do have some security concerns as others have mentioned, but considering the security state we live in there aren't many options when it comes to connectivity. Like I am not sure how VPN or TOR would work on a network like that. Would you still have some anonymity or would using satellite eliminate that?
I've heard firsthand from a network contact that is in the trial currently that speeds in rural areas are great and this is a giant step forward in latency too vs legacy systems.
For urban areas, may not be worth the cost of the receiver ($1000?) as equivalent solutions already exist.
I saw 499 for the beta launch with reduced prices and incentives at launch anticipated. Cable companies charge similar for receivers but drag it out of the contract.
Im a nomad so this appeals to me in a big way. My home base is off grid technically but not super remote and my isp wants 4k to run coax 300 feet. I told them to eat my ass and clean up on the way out. Signed up for this and will happily try it out.
It's going on line soon. I heard it's in beta with the military month or so ago on a uturd channel called Brilliant. Had it saved but I got the boot last month
For bad feedback comments.
Which part? Internet needs to be free. ISPs and regulations have bound up infrastructure and running high speed things is costly apparently. Having a satellite infrastructure in place allows a complete work-around of isps and provided direct competition into a monopolized market that will likely serve for pennies on the dollar. It could bankrupt the greedy fucks on its own. I signed up.
That being said, I would like to see it made "free" to consumers and that burden be placed within the new tax structure that will be deployed post-income tax days. The election is merely one battle in our journey fren. We move on to the central banks in episode 2. This will change how we see markets in a huge way and will open up a tremendous amount of infrastructure funding that can be applied to internets.
Starlink aims to provide worldwide connectivity. It will be used for supporting the one world digital currency and tracking everyone's whereabouts at all times. Musk is one of them. Change my mind.
No you guys. This is the system the globalists need to activate a One Wprld Crypto currency. They need internet world wide. This is how they are doing it. Musk is a shill. Do not trust him. He just became richest man by selling Teslaβs carbon credits around the world. Your tax dollars fund that bullshit! And he pretends to be one of us! Fuck globalism, fuck musk.
I don't trust Musk at all, but it's not like the existing ISPs are any better.

If I lived in the boonies I might. Kind of expensive where other options available

Internet needs to be a public utility paid imo and this certainly opens the door to fuck isps all the way there and back.

might be ok. we won't know shit till people can actually buy it retail.
And current sat hardware is artificially expensive. and everyone gets a cut. "activations" they call it. but it's kickbacks.
but even at the best he'll still need to link to conventional ground backbones and follow their rules. :(

I am planning on it. Hopefully will come out in the next year or two so I can buy myself a good chunk of property in nowhereville and still work.
