I flew American once. Never planning on doing that again. Everyone was waiting at the gate It was about 20ish minutes before boarding, no sign of the plane or any gate agents. Someone finally won it over to one of the nearby gates to figure out what was going on and after they made a couple phone calls, turns out there was a gate change that they never notified anyone via PA system or text messaging, Didn’t even change the message on the TV still listed the flight number and the destination city.
However, said gate was on the other side of the airport, forgot which one, But it was huge and it probably took 20 minutes just to get to the new gate. About half the people, including myself missed that flight and as compensation I got a five dollar food voucher. I was told I should’ve checked their website or app to make sure I was at the correct gate.
Wow, you got a food voucher? Lucky you! That's certainly more than most. Usually they cancel or make you miss your flight, then you have to pay for the hotel. I refuse to fly American Airlines. I would rather drive than deal with them.
Originally they were going to do nothing, but once about 10-15 people cornered a manager how they were no stuck in the airport for 4-6 hours they graciously paid for a bottle of water, er gave me a 5 dollar voucher for my now almost 8 hour instead of 90 minute layover. Meanwhile JetBlue gave me a voucher for about 25% of my fare because the TVs were down and the internet only worked for less then half flight.
NEVER EVER USE American Airlines.. they are the worst anyway... BOYCOTT THEM
