Wow, you got a food voucher? Lucky you! That's certainly more than most. Usually they cancel or make you miss your flight, then you have to pay for the hotel. I refuse to fly American Airlines. I would rather drive than deal with them.
Originally they were going to do nothing, but once about 10-15 people cornered a manager how they were no stuck in the airport for 4-6 hours they graciously paid for a bottle of water, er gave me a 5 dollar voucher for my now almost 8 hour instead of 90 minute layover. Meanwhile JetBlue gave me a voucher for about 25% of my fare because the TVs were down and the internet only worked for less then half flight.
