Here's the deal - 2020 proved to me that everyone loves the "underdog" in their media, but they hate the idea of being the outsider in real life.
V for Vendetta is my favorite example. In the comic book and movie, V is beloved as a symbol of freedom from an oppressively evil government. The Guy Fawkes mask has been adopted as a symbol of standing against tyranny. V was ultimately victorious in utterly destroying government property.
Now think of all the people you know that gobble that movie right up. They fucking LOVE it. But when given the opportunity to be a V in 2020/2021, they proved they were always gigantic faggots.
People have lives to worry about. Their pensions, their houses, their cars, their family and friends, etc. People are creatures of habit and love the familiar and comfortable. Being ostracized by the establishment, even being hunted like criminals when you've done nothing wrong, is not easy. The worst case scenario of actually going to war with the establishment when it might get you killed is especially not fun. The sad thing is that the breaking point will only come when people are made uncomfortable to the extreme -- namely that the majority are poor and can't put food on their tables, or even worse are all homeless. Bread and circuses work for a reason, and when the establishment takes those away is when you'll finally have an uprising, but never before then.
Yes, I agree, that's exactly the problem. Middle-class lifestyle is A TRAP, SET FOR YEARS, TO INDUCE GENERATIONS OF PEOPLE TO EXPECT COMFORTABLE LIVING AS THE NORM.
Never in human history have so many lived so well for so long.
I think the solution is to move towards a quasi-militaristic version of our current lives, where a certain level of discomfort is 'built-in' and a way to ensure that you never get so comfortable that you are not ready to stand up and defend the homeland.
Right now we are a bunch of NEET-equivalents who have no hope in hell surviving off the grid, countering enemy incursions, or anything like that.
Mandatory military service? I know that doesn't sound comfy-wumfy, but honestly, I'd choose that over USSA and Comnada any day.
I'd elect for a middle option, myself. Self-sufficiency. Marx actually pointed out the real problem in modern society: working for someone else removes us too far from our labor to find real joy in it. His solution was give everyone corporate ownership. Sounds good on paper. Horrible in practice, since even he admitted the only way to enforce such an arrangement is through a central dictatorship.
The real solution is moving back to self-sufficiency, which means making sacrifices in areas of comfort, but restores our freedoms and reconnects us directly with the product of our labor, and becomes ever easier as technology progresses.
And Christianity is villianized. The vatican is def steeped in pedos and money launderers but everyone loves to see God or Christians portrayed in a dark way.

Fuck 'em.
They want to vicariously play the hero, not pay by being one.

... and they take the blue pill.
They love V for Vendetta because the government in that movie is portrayed as a fascist "right wing" one.
