Here's the deal - 2020 proved to me that everyone loves the "underdog" in their media, but they hate the idea of being the outsider in real life.

V for Vendetta is my favorite example. In the comic book and movie, V is beloved as a symbol of freedom from an oppressively evil government. The Guy Fawkes mask has been adopted as a symbol of standing against tyranny. V was ultimately victorious in utterly destroying government property.

Now think of all the people you know that gobble that movie right up. They fucking LOVE it. But when given the opportunity to be a V in 2020/2021, they proved they were always gigantic faggots.

Fuck 'em.

People have lives to worry about. Their pensions, their houses, their cars, their family and friends, etc. People are creatures of habit and love the familiar and comfortable. Being ostracized by the establishment, even being hunted like criminals when you've done nothing wrong, is not easy. The worst case scenario of actually going to war with the establishment when it might get you killed is especially not fun. The sad thing is that the breaking point will only come when people are made uncomfortable to the extreme -- namely that the majority are poor and can't put food on their tables, or even worse are all homeless. Bread and circuses work for a reason, and when the establishment takes those away is when you'll finally have an uprising, but never before then.
