Yesterday...Deleted Facebook after almost 16 years (2005-2021) as well as Twitter close to a 4 year old account and Instagram. I’ve been using Brave and I am trying to figure out how to back up my deceased husband’s YouTube but they are next.
Use Jdownloader2 to download youtube videos on PC (Windows and Mac) or Tubemate for Android (put in the name on any search engine and it will take you to the download link for both these softwares)
A few years ago I used keepvid.com to download all my YouTube videos. Don't think they're around still but just Google "download youtube videos". All else fails, "Atubedownloader" is an app (with a horrible name and a ad-riddled free version) but I paid/ used for the shareware version and it's decent.
I leave mine open, but pointing people to the alternatives. When they ask in person why I haven't replied to their messages on the dead platform, I ask why they haven't read my posts and followed me on Parler.
Go a step further give low ratings to the sites on the stores and online with burner emails.

Spent better half of today creating passwords for websites where I used facebook login, send PMs to all my close people and asked them to find me on Signal.
Deleted facebook, 2 twitter accounts (one was an old one I created for a previous job), started using Signal for SMS, switched to duckduckgo, Going to start the process of getting off of gmail, as well as google drive, next. I heard that you can neutralize your phone by putting a new OS on a google pixel, already using one of those so 50% done for that!
How exactly do you delete accounts on Facebook and Instagram and Snapchat? I’m old and haven’t used them in years, I never added the apps to my phone but I guess my accounts still exist.
I haven’t had Facebook since 2012. I deleted Twitter, Instagram, and I have mostly migrated off of gmail. I cancelled Amazon Prime this morning. My family was using my perks and FREAKED OUT but I think everyone will be better off without it. I dont want to imagine all the money I’ve wasted buying things I don’t need.
I think my goal this year will be to drastically reduce the amount of digital in my life. If anyone has any recommendations for a “dumb phone,” please let me know. All I need is text and calls.

Keep the Google phone. Ironically enough the default Google phones are the easiest to install a replacement OS on.
