There were no troops and minimal police for BLM riots though?

Chicago PD was told to stand down during the riots. By Mayor Lori Uselessness. NG were eventually called in by Pritzker, but all they did was patrol the Loop while the rioting spread to neighborhoods.

I imagine cops in all the Dem riot cities were told to stand down. It was obviously all planned.

I don’t know. Ask the guy who never sent them in.

If you mean Trump then you should understand that Trump can't send in troops to any State without a request from that State.

"the law is not a suicide pact"

The law is stripes on the road. Loss of control is protected by a guard rail on a highway, it protects against going over the edge accidentally.

When there is a flaming wreck obstructing the roadway and emergency vehicles need to pass, they ignore road striping and guard rails and drive off the shoulder, through your yard, whatever it takes to keep moving.

I'm not saying I know it will happen but if Trump decides to ignore arbitrary limitations on his powers under the Insurrection Act, and he saves the Republic and presents the country with a fait accompli, who will complain? The same people who always complain.

If it's stupid but it works, it's not stupid.

If people think you don't have power, you don't have power, even if you legally have it.

If people think you have power, you have power, even if you legally don't have it.

Indeed, however with the BLM/Antifa riots Trump would have been immediately impeached for abuse of power if he had sent in the National Guard without request.
