The thing is if they are really removing the EBS support from the phone what would be their endgame. i assume the FCC would be forced to come down on them at the very least and they probably could face having their handsets lose certification. Does anyone know the actual law surrounding a company openly subverting a national security mandate?
Yeah but there is still a world of non-frothing professionals out there working their 9 to 5s. Apple still has to ostensibly follow US law to operate here. If a company just ignores a National Security Letter gag they are destroyed. How is this any different?
There are more incriminating things they can go down for if word gets out. Besides, they would just make up an excuse that it was an accident or necessary and the establishment would protect them.
