Powell and Wood are both saying to turn off automatic updates on your phones as they have plans to push through an update to disable EBS. Whether you believe them or not, it is a good precautionary measure to take.
I think Apple just pushed out a new update on my phone - it said it was going to automatically install even though I had auto install disabled (had to turn it off again).

Yep same here! I fucking disabled it, and it said it was going to install tonight so I had to turn it off a second time. So much fuckery
