Many countries considered Twitter and Google a threat, because it appears that they only really supported revolutions if it happened to have the stamp of approval by the global establishment. But, there was always that doubt. Maybe they do really permit free speech and free exchange of ideas?
Now they have a concrete example of two groups in a year. One by BLM, supported and nurtured by big tech, despite riots, arson, people storming courthouses and legislatures, accosting people on the street to demand their support, and physically attacking elected officials. One that invites wide bans, and that was the disruption of a legislature by supporters of the President who butts heads with his government establishment, and that demands the harshest punishment.
If I was a leader of a foreign country, I would immediately ban any government organization from being beholden to a cloud based service controlled by a foreign country, whether it's based out of Silicon Valley or Beijing. And even greatly dissuade private business in my country from being beholden to these services.
No new government contracts for Google GSuite, Office 365/Azure, Amazon Web Services, or similar offerings being spun up by Tencent and similar. Existing government entities using these services should formulate and execute a plan in place to migrate away within a year. Private entities should be similarly encouraged.
Hell, this sounds like pretty good advice for even domestic users.
I would say that this used to be the case when it was a bunch of free thinking nerds building things in their garages. But power consolidation means that the internet today is basically the sum total of Google, Amazon, Facebook, and Twitter, and the vast sums of money they generate have corrupted all of the basic principles that may have existed in the minds of those who originally built them.

They believe that their ideals and beliefs transcend any law or any kind of human decency, so there is no limit to how far they'd go or what they will do if it helps their cause. So I think it's possible that these people are leaving their companies in order to destroy or compromise Gab.

Gab is brilliant. I haven't used them that much because it wasn't as active as this site or Telegram, but I've had an account for a while and it's just one brilliant innovation after another.
Gab itself is great and is probably one of the most resilient sites when it comes to attempts to shut them down. They seem to be totally self sufficient and not reliant on any sketchy hosting companies.
Then their Dissenter extension is awesome because it lets you comment on fake news articles even when they've removed the comment section.
Then they've made their own browser which is awesome.
