I kind of miss when going to the video store and picking out a movie was in itself an event. Every Friday we would go and get a movie or two, hoping to snag a new release. We’d wander around looking at choices, picking some candy...video stores were fun. I miss them. My whole family would rent one movie and we’d all watch together. Now, usually I am on my device and everyone in our family is watching their own thing...kind of sad, really.
Sometimes, we think things evolve for the better, but maybe not.
Yeah, I’m not too old but I still remember when my family and I would rent movies to watch on the weekend, most of what we do together now is lunch.

Your local library should have DVDs you can check out. Some of them have online versions you can check out too. The selection won't be large as Netflix or whatever, but there's usually quite a few.
My Plex media library is better than any streaming service now.
We have a few record stores around Minneapolis, which are fun. I do miss going to Musicland at the mall and picking out Christmas gifts for my dad. It was so fun looking at albums and cassettes and then the VHS movies. What a fun experience shopping used to be. Sure beat sitting at a computer shopping online.
Yes. This was thing on Friday’s or if there was a really good movie out we’d go first thing Friday morning. If it was a really really good movie us kids would be directed to man the returns station to see if someone had dropped it off while in store.
My parents would get a few movies and us kids would get one video game. Rotated between us. My siblings hated me. They’d pick shit like donkey Kong and Zelda. Me? I had some kick about game shows and word games. It was a great experience in learning bartering. I’d trade my game week for chores.
