Popper and Marcuse thought in regards to how society should think of tolerance towards differing viewpoints, as well as the paradigm differences between taking words at face value and reading-in to words, or assuming what people will read-in to words and then being draconian. It seems like Big Tech was pressured by staff or wanted to be totalitarian and were just waiting for an opening. Well, they just set back freedom in the world because now other countries that truly have no free speech or less free speech than America has will say, "Ha.. you don't even allow free speech on your platforms, so you can't criticize!".
I'm sure there's some that are genuinely pissed and are patriots and don't like what's happening, but the timing would be terrible without an extreme vetting process.
I think some of them are smart enough to go "are we the baddies" by now and nope right the fuck out of their cushy jobs in their coup supporting fascist megacorps.
That said, if they were smarter, more observant, and more ethical they would have done it over 4 years ago. Trusting them would be a difficult thing to do, even if they were genuine. This might be a major last straw, but they sure as hell were stupid enough to miss at least 100 other warning signs.
As much as these lunatics have infiltrated Silicon Valley, even if it's only a minority (like 20-25%) of them being conservatives or true libertarians, that's still A LOT of people.
