I can confirm that the Vatican did go dark except the star on top of the Christmas tree. It was blinking and flickering a bit. I watched a live feed of it for over an hour. Lots of police activity, but it was too dark, so I could only see the whirly lights. No idea what was going on. It could have been added police patrolling since it was dark. Although the cars did just sit there for a while. It was weird.

Suddenly right at midnight my time (CST) the lights suddenly came back on. It freaked me out.
