I hope he pulls through and recovers quickly to health and comfort. I'm glad you have a community you feel you can talk to; don't let everything here stress you out too much, we'll hold down the fort and be here when your dad's stable and well again.
My dad is going through something similar. He had “minimally-invasive” back surgery and contracted C. diff in the hospital. He is fighting for his life and I fear losing. I’ll include your dad (and you!) in my prayers.

Amen. Thank you! We still don't know what's up because of covid we are not allowed to be with him so we only get updates from the doctor once in a while. The doctor said he needs and endoscopy urgently, but the hospital is so broke they don't have the equipment for that right now (socialized healthcare). We have to wait for the doctor in charge to show up to see how we can move him to a better hospital asap.
Your post made me think of something that happened to my dad years ago. He was fine and then one morning he threw up blood. Turned out he had developed an ulcer because he was taking one of his medicines wrong. I can't remember what it was, whether it was supposed to be taken with food or on an empty stomach, but I'm sure it was just due to that mistake.

Get some food-grade hydrogen peroxide into him.
It kills bacteria and viruses.
Add a few drops to water and keep drinking it.
