Google, Apple, and Amazon have shown everyone they're going to censor speech they don't approve of.
So who still wants to have a 'smart home' where all of your major appliances are connected to the internet and controlled by the department of truth?

Very few have ever wanted a "smart home" in reality. Some have bought into the advertised idea that it will make their lives better, safer, and easier. The only ones who actually want people to have "smart" homes is those trying to control and harvest data and info from people nearly to the level of humans use in the matrix.
Smart homes seem like a cool futuristic idea..... until you have to replace your wireless router and it takes a week of work to reconfigure everything.
Adding the big brother angle to the scenario makes it a hard pass.
