I had "it" in early November. It was no big deal for me. I had a constant headache for a solid week, and gushing nosebleeds daily. My sense of smell got wonky first, followed by taste - neither went away entirely, it was just really weird and muted and like you mentioned, specific to certain kinds of tastes.

Muted is the perfect word to describe how my taste is like! Muted!

I know very few people that have had "it", but it's been different for all of them so your mileage will vary
