This move by Amazon may cause some very interesting conversations in corporate IT groups this Monday. There are going to be some people asking what happens if the Great Gods of Amazon decide that their corporate politics have been found to be BadThink, and are purged.

Get Woke, Go Broke, ya bastards.

Alas, too true.

It's never too late when it comes to security, especially infrastructure security.

BostonVoter 6 points ago +6 / -0

Is it more than the cost of Fweee Dom ?

4
day221 4 points ago +4 / -0

It should have already been dealt with, but it's not too expensive when the alternative is losing your entire business.

Not if you containerized.

Possibly too late to make sudden shifts.

I can say that there will be a great many of these web-hosted companies deciding it's a great time to look at hosting options and make plans for the inevitable.

I'm canning our AWS initiatives Monday. They suck to work with anyway. The margins suck compared to selling competitive hardware or other clouds.

3
doodaddy 3 points ago +3 / -0

It has come to amazons attention that your staff has not bought any BLM shirts or courses. This racist behavior ends now as we delete your data from our cloud unless you hire an Obama approved Chief Diversity Officer and begin hiring our woke staff.

They handle most, if not all, of the CIA networking storage needs lol. That is why they treat Bezos like a God.

25
BasedInFact 25 points ago +25 / -0

Well, the CIA should also be banned by the federal government.

At least. If my livelihood relied on my website being up I wouldn't be looking at using AWS right now.

They are actually used by The US GOVT. Yeah be afraid.

1

Luckily they still use a lot of. Are metal also

You know the USG has massive contracts with AWS, right?

That was always a cover. They said nothing about Obama's large scale warfare. George Bush invaded 2 countries, but Obama added 5 more to the list.

Valid point. But just remember the alternative, Microsoft, is no better.

You / we are kind of stuck when all the “devils you know” are worse than the devil you know now.

Azure is much safer than AWS, the right-wingers at Microsoft are working on it. The left-wingers are working on the consumer stuff.

1
NZbacon 1 point ago +1 / -0

Fuck Bill Gates.

2
ticomfreak 2 points ago +2 / -0

Bill Gates left Microsoft in 2008. Steve Ballmer, the person who replaced him was based AF. Satya Nadella, who replaced Ballmer is unknown; but he did come from the Azure team.

1
NZbacon 1 point ago +1 / -0

You believe Gates has no control, influence or investment in microsoft?

2
1337Gandalf 2 points ago +3 / -1

There's more alternatives then just Azure, there's Google, Oracle, even IBM offer cloud services.

7
Daffy 7 points ago +7 / -0

It's cute you listed IBM.

2
SnowflakeJuice 2 points ago +2 / -0

I think Google is even funnier, the same company that bans conservative thought from youtube

meme_cannon 2 points ago +2 / -0

Larry Ellison CTO of Oracle seems somewhat conservative from his Wikipedia page. He's hosted a fundraiser for Rand Paul in his home. He also allowed Donald Trump to have a fundraiser on his estate. Perhaps Parler and the like should be using their cloud services.

2
freecontext 2 points ago +2 / -0

This may be an opportunity for some to build an alternative platform that is decentralized but provides a lot of the same scalability and features,

I'm looking at this as a business and technical opportunity for the next big trend in the coming years.

1
SnowflakeJuice 1 point ago +1 / -0

Microsoft actually is a little better, they tend not to mix politics with business as much as other tech companies. IBM and Oracle also provide hosting services

3
c4n5p00 3 points ago +3 / -0

Well I wouldn’t trust Nadella at MSFT any further than I could throw him. He has caved on things in the past. Ironically the big defence contract for cloud services went from AWS to Azure because Trump essentially didn’t want Bezos to prosper off it. Will Nadella remember that? Hell no.

Would you trust Ellison at Oracle? Never. And I do not know who the new CEO is of IBM but Gini Romnetty was a turncoat, like Lindsey 6.0, every time she got around Trump on the technology committee she sat on a few years back.

Remember Big Tech protects Big Tech. And if one member gets out of hand / un-woke, the rest will let them have it. All these companies do a lot of business with each other. Anyone seen to be helping conservatives will face a backlash within the community that we will never know of, but it will be substantial.

I am definitely not a paranoid person. But the last week has shown me there is a massive war on right now against any conservatives in America because we are in the middle of a coup d’ etat that must not be stopped under any circumstances.

NZbacon 0 points ago +1 / -1

Microsoft is Bill Gates.

6
1337Gandalf 6 points ago +6 / -0

The CIA signed a huge contract with AWS a few years ago.

3
Fnordinand 3 points ago +3 / -0

...a month after Bezos bought the Washington Post. (To be fair, both deals had been brewing for a few months, but Amazon was hampered by a legal block that magically went away after the WP purchase.)

2
1337Gandalf 2 points ago +2 / -0

That's interesting, thanks for the context.

5
JohnBrennansACommie 5 points ago +5 / -0

Instead they get massive gvt contracts. See how this works?

AWS (and cloud computing in general) has killed millions of good paying jobs and careers for the American working class.

A blue collar kid could go to a tech school for 6-12 months for short money, instead of 4 year college, and get a decent paying job as a network admin at the local insurance company or hospital, and make it a career.

Now with cloud computing these entry level jobs have been eliminated mostly. Yes you need some to spin up server instances and whatnot and act as the admin but much of the responsibility is with amazon and it’s cheap foreign labor force.

It'd be good to have guides on how to build infrastructure and applications entirely outside of AWS/Azure/GCP, kind of how Gab and TD.win have set themselves up.

The problem with that though would be the left using it to target those companies/providers, using their usual tactics. If their usual cancel tactics don't work, the alphabet agencies would focus their resources on them too.

My anonymous source tells me amazon has more employees than some arbitrary number gathering, and at least two of them are less than 6 feet apart. Shutting off their power and water should 1000% be justified right?

A lot of it is irreversible without massive rewrites. They have proprietary hardware and software. You can't just pick up and leave. It's not cloud in the sense that it is just off-site services, it's infrastructure as code.

They need to be banned privately - move off. Azure ain't no better, time to go back in time and host everything on-prem.

Dell is happy?

Lol. AWS is funded by the US government. They recently got a multi billion no bid contract with the CIA. Have agreements with NSA, etc.
