She was left on hold for 25 minutes..... 25 minutes and then Pence would not take her call. I think 25 minutes was very poinyant.

Why would jack tweet he loves signal?

33
trumpcovfefe 33 points ago +33 / -0

Parler was formerly #1 in the app store. Signal was #2.

He’s tweeting joy about Parler being booted by Apple.

9
PepesCovfefe 9 points ago +9 / -0

Isn’t signal the same thing as Parler in terms of what he opposes: free speech?

11
lmao 11 points ago +12 / -1

signal is probably in their control, like reddit. blm and antifa are using signal to organise

13
Squeaker 13 points ago +13 / -0

Idk but it's a given that I wouldn't use it now that he endorses it. If he were smart, he'd endorse his competition to get people to avoid it, but I don't think he's smart and he really believes he's part of popular opinion.

4
I_no_asshoe 4 points ago +5 / -1

He knows his platform is compromised. Wishes his was clean like Signal.

3
PepesCovfefe 3 points ago +3 / -0

2

2
lmao 2 points ago +2 / -0

reddit isn't clean, twitter isn't clean, facebook isn't clean, google isn't clean, apple isn't clean

blm and antifa organize on signal

see screenshot of tweet again

i doubt it's clean doesn't mean I know it's clean nor know it isn't clean, it means I'm not convinced it's clean

3
I_no_asshoe 3 points ago +3 / -0

It’s open sourced software you can inspect it yourself. When I say clean I mean no backdoors, no tracing bugs, info collecting modules etc. WE CAN INSPECT THE CODE!

2

85Dacudo 1 point ago +1 / -0

True, but it’s not like many of us were completely aware of how deranged big tech had gotten with its politics.

Honestly even if Trump had gone to parler, Amazon would have most likely still done this.

What we need to focus on now is combating their censorship.

No point living isn’t the past.

65
Nice_n_tangy 65 points ago +65 / -0

Why is dorsey posting about signal?

77
Kelmika 77 points ago +79 / -2

Parler was the #1 most downloaded free app as of yesterday. Amazon is shutting down their servers tonight and Apple/Google Play have delisted them from their platforms. He is happy that Parler is gone.

31
JudicialDredd 31 points ago +31 / -0

Vertical Monopolies. Companies no longer have to control entire sections of industry. They only have to align with similar sectors that have the same commie goals.

21
Inertargongas 21 points ago +21 / -0

Even if Parler moves to new servers, guess who controls the Public DNS servers everyone relies on to be able to connect to the new server? If Parler.com doesn't resolve to an IP address, nobody can visit. Truly, three companies control all electronic communications in the modern age. We should have broken them up long ago.

10
InternetPersona 10 points ago +10 / -0

And all three supported Obamas version of net neutrality. This was the most salient point to be made when arguing that net neutrality as it was proposed at the time was evil and each time I made the point to a leftist or layman, they said "but Google (DNS) and Amazon (backbone) would never align themselves with each other or another company."

The defense of that monumentally stupid suggestion was always faith and trust.

2
UpTrump 2 points ago +2 / -0

How does gab get around that?

2
ButteryFumes 2 points ago +2 / -0

They have their own servers

1
Inertargongas 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm sorry to say it doesn't. This is just the next level of censorship - the one they haven't reached yet. Could happen at any moment.

13
zaowood 13 points ago +13 / -0

Yes - he hopes his shit platform might last a bit longer if the competition is nuked.

But nothing will save twitter when the only people left are purple-haired freaks eating each other.

11
Cmchn 11 points ago +11 / -0

The fact Tumblr's essentially dead and Twitter's stock started dropping makes me hopeful. Maybe we'll cripple the social media giant that's kept the world crazy for the past decade.

25
9
Kozio_ 9 points ago +9 / -0

Shouldn't we be concerned that big tech is backing Signal? Is it a honey pot?

4
stvrap79 4 points ago +5 / -1

It’s because Parler was the top app on the App Store until him and the big tech cabal colluded to have Apple boot them off. He is celebrating that it’s gone.

9
frogman1776 9 points ago +9 / -0

I am seeing this answer repeated over and over in this thread, which leads me to believe it’s false.

3
covert_genitalia 3 points ago +3 / -0

This one is true, bud. I didn’t screencap it at the time, but I was checking the App Store yesterday to see if they were actually gonna pull it (they did, late), and Parler was the top free app on the App Store. It was highly visible, and I’m sure it made Dorsey’s blood boil. Fuck him.

1
Olds77 1 point ago +1 / -0

it's open source

1
deleted 1 point ago +2 / -1
4
BasedFatTails2 4 points ago +5 / -1

It’s still open source you retard. You can quite literally read their code and build pipelines. You can also verify checksums on your phone along with many other features. I have read their core and it’s legit. Don’t believe me but do you really think Snowden would support them?

-7
deleted -7 points ago +1 / -8
6
BasedFatTails2 6 points ago +7 / -1

Open source means you can verify their security yourself. I get you too retarded to do that but many others including myself have. Also yes open source is more secure since anyone can call out bugs and test it.

I get it you’re a boomer or a retard that can’t understand the concept but sure don’t use signal if you don’t want to. Shit if your ignorance drives you to use smoke signals go ahead

I really hope this conversation goes further...signal is part open source and part proprietary. I will look to see if they disclose which portions are open.

2
InternetPersona 2 points ago +2 / -0

When I first started using signal they made clear that only part of their service was open source. It appears now that protocol, client and servers are open source. The server is troublesome and I will like to find a decentralized alternative can someone check me that Signal has indeed become 100% open source?

It's like Reddit. They kicked out all of the conservatives. Now, Reddit is just a liberal echo chamber.

15
WiseOldOwl 15 points ago +17 / -2

It's fairly decent for non-political shit. Like if you want to know how to build a chair you can find some woodworking reddit. Which sucks because we'd all prefer them to totally go broke.

Some with wikipedia. If you want to know about geology, well, they haven't decided quartz is a gender (yet) so the pages about rocks are mostly okay.

1
Tenbuckstew 1 point ago +1 / -0

Its a cult mentality, cant give any criticisms to the hivemind without repeating some part of their dogma.

37
DontApologize 37 points ago +38 / -1

The left wants to make political opposition illegal - and if they can't do that right away they are going to make it impossible.

You guys are wrong - its a very good plan. This is what they did in the USSR. And just like in the USSR there was not a mass willing to fight back against the authorities while it was happening.

13
Tazr671 13 points ago +13 / -0

This isn't the USSR. In Russia most people lived in pretty miserable conditions and they were in the middle of a shooting war that arguably the Czar in his stupidity struck the match to get going by mobilizing forcing the Germans to take out France so they could free forces to take on the Russians.

Whatever happens in America it will be different from the USSR. It may rhyme, but it will not be a simple repetition.

9
DontApologize 9 points ago +9 / -0

True. But I never said it was exactly like the USSR - just pointing out that they are making opposition illegal - like they have done in Hong Kong - and like they are doing in the UK.

In the UK for example if you post negative things about immigrants or workers from foreign places in facebook - they can arrest you. Now they can't do that here yet but they can get facebook to ban you - or if other platforms allow it - they get the provider to ban that.

7
shaven_llama 7 points ago +7 / -0

What they have here in the US is even better. Private companies do the silencing for the govt, and the govt keeps its hands clean. They don’t kill you, they just render you irrelevant and destitute.

Have you noticed that every corporate HR person is basically an enthusiastic political commissar for the left?

1
Tazr671 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yet was so yesterday.

1
85Dacudo 1 point ago +1 / -0

12
Tallsie 12 points ago +12 / -0

Most of the lefties I'm hearing from are saying that freedom of speech protects you from prosecution by the government for what you say. But doesn't cover private companies basically showing you the door for saying something the mods don't agree with.

It sounds oddly like the argument I was making when they were claiming that the government should silence the right by prosecution... gotta love the double standards.
