Scottish independence polled at something like 20% , after one year of serious campaigning it got about 45%, and they will certainly vote for independence if they have another referendum

UKIP were seen as fringe nuts, but they eventually gained enough momentum to force a vote. It took about 15 years but it happened

This is so true. I think the secession idea is the most viable one for anyone who is legitimately fed up with our government. It brings up a lot of thorny problems (military, state debts, etc.), but where theres a will, there's a way I guess. My only thought is that it will take more than 1 state to be successful. We need a Nigel Farage to lead us to it though - took him years.

Didnt say the SNP are nationalists. And Scottish independence has been going on longer than that. The first referendum was held before anyone knew the UK would vote for Brexit

Within this year we will be 80% here in Texas. I will bet on that

Last time they tried, Lincoln invaded based upon the legal basis that the Constitution guarantees Texas the right “to a relublican form of government” and if they seceded the federal government wouldn’t be able to be guaranteed then. That was the legal rationale.

And the EU itself is basically just an agreement among fatcat bankers to enrich themselves.

When the government fails the people, they have the right to form a new government. Texas secession qualifies.

The US has long been on a path to Balkanization.

And I think it was less than 5% in 2011. And yes, Scotlands independence is now eu driven

And many who voted remain are now glad we've left. Take hope in that

The better approach is a constitutional amendment setting out the procedure for seceding. That threat alone would stop a lot of abuse.

15% is a key threshold that signals future change. We have way more than that deciding, right now, that this fraudulent election will not stand.

Sorry guys but the notion of TX breaking away from the Union is absolutely retarded and exactly what our enemies want. The only reason we have a chance is we are stronger together. This completely goes against the Constitution and the ideals of our Federal Republic. This is literally divide and conquer. Why are people falling for this?

Divide and conquer. You won't be free very long. Stop being pussies and giving up on the Republic. We don't break away like cowards. We fight and take it back. Breaking up the Union is exactly what the Communist want. I can't believe I have to explain this to people.

Reflect that it’s exactly what the colonies did 80 years prior to an unaccountable government. In fact the founders thought leaving was the ultimate check and was so widely thought to be a right they never felt they needed to include in the constitution. A state leaving is the ultimate check on big government. I prefer an amendment laying out the procedures like the EU has.

No that's not how this works. The Founders left a tyrannical dictatorship and started a Federal Republic. Breaking away from the system the Founders devised is not the answer. We didn't survive the last 240 years breaking up every time we had a war. The framers warned us a day like this would come and gave us the tools to right it. They did not say break up the Union when it did. They said fix it.

Secession is treason.

The reason why people want secession is because the government committed treason to it's own constitution first by denying Texas standing. If our government was not corrupt and allowed the case through and voted on the merits, there would be no need for secession.

The Framers told you to fix it when it gets this bad. They didn't say break up the Union. Divide and conquer is the exact opposite of what we should be doing. Completely goes against the Constitution.

Treason is defined in the constitution solely as waging war on the several states.
