Joe Oltmann · @Joeoltmann 5 hours ago · Impressions 45159 Parler will only be down until they migrate servers... I just canceled our Amazon Prime account. I’ll go without before I give them another dollar. My company left the cloud over 2 years ago because of the obvious. I have considerable stock in tech stocks. I will divest on Monday. I suggest you all do the same.

Next week, I work to build tech investment strategy to eliminate the tech nazi play. Sorry, but you should not be able to use rhetoric as an excuse to collaborate to eliminate competition. It is a RICO Act violation. Since they already admitted they are working together... the rest should be easy.

bangbus 27 points ago +28 / -1

“the rest should be easy.” LOL. That guy has no clue. No one from the DOJ or FTC who has oversight responsibilities for RICO or antitrust is gonna lift a finger. The court system will be a total crapshoot and unless you can get to a federal appeals court with at least two based Republicans or to the SCOTUS there simply is no remedy at this time.

I think it was more because the new Trump appointed Justices elected to defer to Roberts. Observing what has happened, I wonder if they will be as deferential in the future?

I jus posted something like this on another post. We have two different Prime accounts now. Tomorrow we will cancel one. Just need to convince the wife to cancel the second one Tuesday.

If we all did do you think they would notice?

As an alternative what if we started buying things then returning then? Their return policy is great, but they are trusting their members to not take advantage of it.

If we all bought 5 $2.00 items and then returned them all on different days this week what would they do?

I just posted a similar suggestion related to Apple computer.

Buy stuff, get delivered to an Amazon locker, never pick it up. Saves you time of having to return and eats up their locker real estate.

Brilliant 👏

There is a chain department store here that accepts Amazon returns. They give you a 20% off coupon to use in the store after all returns. I've ordered stuff on Amazon to just get the coupon.

You can also have free Prime (I think) forever. Just use the free trial for 1 month, cancel and use a different email address. I've done this for two months running, we will see if I can do it for three.

4
PoorMansPsychiatrist 4 points ago +4 / -0

It's Kohls. Super easy returns. Don't even need to package it up.

2
DebbieinDallas 2 points ago +2 / -0

Kohl’s is owned by a WI Democrat millionaire which is why I have never shopped there

9
tokenninja 9 points ago +9 / -0

Make another post be this suggestion!!

Everyone start buying random shit and return them!

9
Unapologetic 9 points ago +9 / -0

You wont notice.. i cancelled prime and when i occasionally place an order i select free shipping, and 90% of the time its here in two days anyway.

6
couranto 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yep. They have built their logistics to get shit here in 2 days anyhow. It’d costs them money not to deliver in 2 days free.

19
patriotblend 19 points ago +19 / -0

Amazon was shifty enough before they were a 'last-resort' place to order from.

Now they're actively participating in the overthrow of the U.S. government to facilitate tyranny against the people.

Giving them a single dime for any service is tantamount to treason.

10
couranto 10 points ago +10 / -0

They aren’t overthrowing anything. They are the government. Amazon gives us deals to build AI for all of us. They know are politics and personalities based on everything we buy and browse. Then they store it all on AWS Cloud. Alongside the cia.

2
Ridiculousness 2 points ago +2 / -0

Did we not notice as department stores at the mall went belly up

11
SliceOfKek 11 points ago +11 / -0

I deleted my aws hosting as well and will be canceling prime soon too. Fuck these guys.

2
TheCandorist 2 points ago +2 / -0

Migrating what I have hosted in AWS as soon as I can. Still investigating the option but I might move over to hosting it on Linode or maybe Digital Ocean. Hoping Digital ocean isn't AWS backed and they do their own thing. Haven't heard. One of the sites is a static site and Digital Ocean looks like they let you host 3 static sites for free.

Any other alternatives?

4
IGOTHAIRYLEGZ 4 points ago +4 / -0

4
BaxterTheWanderDog 4 points ago +4 / -0

Just cancelled all things Amazon in my life

1
TheCandorist 1 point ago +1 / -0

The only thing I haven't canceled so far is Prime. Still trying to work out what other options are that aren't owned Walmart, are Chinese, or Target.

Is Alibaba the company that is run by that guy Ma that was disappeared recently? Maybe he isn't as chicom as the chicoms...but if he is disappeared...

Turns out that migrating my few websites was really easy and are mostly done and since they are mostly low traffic I figured I'd just cancel and redeploy later this evening.

1
rosie 1 point ago +1 / -0

Buy directly from the manufacturer where possible, ideally local to you.

4
DasBurt 4 points ago +4 / -0

My gf: You used prime, why is it taking two weeks to get it?

Me: That's how monopolies work. Once they get that big, the service always goes to Hell.

(pre-Spez: it was an item I tried to find locally and failed)

Commodities, small cap and inflationary hedges. I dumped large and mid cap with year end rebalance.

3
Voltus 3 points ago +3 / -0

updoot!

3
GottliebPins 3 points ago +3 / -0

You can always find something on Amazon then figure out what company is selling it and order it directly from them. Cut Amazon out of the equation.

3
Deplorable2020 3 points ago +3 / -0

I just order things that are less than a dollar to get the free shipping and waste their money. I'm the kind of guy who clicks on google ads of companies I hate to increase their ad spend. I'll also ask every Dem candidate to send me free buttons, stickers, and signs.

2
Klandathu 2 points ago +2 / -0

People, please be sure to change your “public profile” name (not account name) to “Trump Won” or something before you delete. It will retroactively change the name of all your review and stuff.

2
wakingthelions 2 points ago +2 / -0

Honestly, divestment from the tyranna-tech isn't a bad idea. Least of all because when we win, they'll be worth nothing, and their leaders will be pariahs.

2
Themodsrfags 2 points ago +2 / -0

I did too. And youtube premium

2
AbsurdOpinion 2 points ago +2 / -0

Just canceled my Prime account and even got them to refund me the last charge. I can deal with waiting a little longer for my packages and working directly with the company that makes what I want. This seems like a super easy way to fight back - it's barely an inconvenience. I mayl use Amazon to find what I need, then buy it direct. Screw em.

2
DebbieinDallas 2 points ago +2 / -0

Anyone besides me notice that Walmart recently changed their on-line free shipping policy? Used to be $35 min order. Now free shopping and no minimum. I figure they are upping their game and going after Amazon. We have to figure out which is the bigger threat, Walmart or Amazon, and at this time it is Amazon.

2
jetjetjet 2 points ago +2 / -0

Companies should migrate off of AWS. It's overpriced because it is reliable, but if they can kick your company off on a whim, it is no longer reliable. The left has gone after people because they did something as innocent as not eating Mexican food. They have also gone after people because they did eat Mexican food. Their outrage is completely unpredictable. Any company that locks themselves into AWS without having the ability to switch providers is running the risk of being banned from the internet for weeks if one of their employees eats a burrito.

2
MarcusAurelius 2 points ago +2 / -0 (edited)

It really depends on how they are using AWS. If they are just using them for web hosting using a public API along side database services with standard SQL (As much as there is a standard SQL), they can migrate quickly. But, the more they lean on AWS APIs, the more fucked they are.

I've used AWS in the past for projects, and I've generally elected to do the above. Use their hardware to run virtual machines and run SQL for initial buildout. When small, we didn't have to buy hardware or guess about the demand load. The nice thing is that it they way I implemented it, it was easy to pull my data off of AWS to run on our own hardware to save costs as the project matured. When transitioning to our own hardware, it was something like a 15 minute downtime while we were changing DNS records and flushing DNS cache. But it was something we were able to spend a few weeks to plan and test before flipping the switches. AWS is still a good option (speaking from a business, not freedom perspective) to ramp for unexpected demand quickly. The code is still in the project for us to buy resources from AWS in case we see unexpected demand. But, AFAIK, it's deprecated.

The biggest roadblock they would have is to get an ISP and COLO, especially with COVID restrictions going on. The second would be to physically get the servers. Fortunately, they probably have a good idea about the server load, bandwidth, and SQL load they will need to build out.

FYI. I canceled Att because of the iPhone ban of parler. I bought 5 new androids and now use T-Mobile. Since you invest

...or, just go to Gab. Already had more people. Already de-centralized and unstoppable. And ... not owned by Bonginio.

2DutchBus 3 points ago +3 / -0

isn't he just the figure head/smaller investor (smaller doesn't mean insignificant though)? Isn't it primarily owned by the Mercer's or something like that?

2
Absolute_Savagery 2 points ago +2 / -0

With the dow being at a record high....it sure would be a shame if 74+million Americans (those who have investment portfolios and 401k's in that subset) all moved everything out of the market and into their savings.

1
okcomputer2297 1 point ago +1 / -0

I would never advocate people moving all of their 401k assets to cash. But lets be honest, this whole thing is about making sure that Zucker + Jack's lobbying for dem candidates pays off. The best thing you can do is divest from their companies. Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, etc. If you are willing to be a bit riskier, active short positions will have a big impact. Remember, Twitter doesn't really make money, the only thing that matters is their stock price. Sell any stock you have in those companies specifically, and if you are willing to risk it, buy puts on TWTR, or if you are really risky, open a short position. If you lose your shirt, it wasn't me. A 5-10% correction in TWTR stock will be killer, a 20% correction would be amazing. These people only have power because they have money.

2
defiant_liberty 2 points ago +2 / -0

I was thinking, you can shop on amazon, but instead of buying the product from them, find the vendor, look them up online, and contact them directly. Bet that in most cases you can get a better price.

2
andrew_jacksanon 2 points ago +2 / -0

1

I am buying puts on Twitter on Monday. Imagine if 10,000 people on this board just bought one contract. Or if some people with some serious cash and guts opened a short position?

Buy Bitcoin

1
IbleedOrange 1 point ago +1 / -0

Instead of canceling Amazon prime, what would happen if we ordered more, and then returned everything.

-5
DRKMSTR -5 points ago +4 / -9

Invest in Microsoft, they've been relatively quiet because they are soaking up the contracts that amazon kicks.

3
buckeyeminuteman 3 points ago +5 / -2

And give Gates and his vaccines your money? Did you take stupid pills for breakfast?

3
crazyjackel 3 points ago +4 / -1

Gates is fully divested from Microsoft, I believe. I would look into the current CEO and see if he is a roving lunny.

Edit: He asked tech companies to do a 'referendum' on capitalism, do not invest in Microsoft, this guy is mad stupid.

2
couranto 2 points ago +2 / -0

Microsoft runs newsguard which is like a digital Brownshirt telling you if a website is “credible.”

7
crazyjackel 7 points ago +7 / -0

My mother who voted for Biden came over to me and my father who have been trying to tell her to stop reading the MSM today and said "America is turning into China". Me and my father looked at her and said "We told you so."

0
DRKMSTR 0 points ago +1 / -1

Gates doesn't run the place, he just owns stock.

MSFT is the least biased big-tech company at the moment.

3
crazyjackel 3 points ago +3 / -0

A lot of tech companies are in California, divest in the quite ones that aren't making trouble and haven't made trouble in years.

2
2DutchBus 2 points ago +2 / -0

Microsoft is sick too. I am an Xbox gamer, and the xbox figureheads were figuratively jerking off in their own faces when Trump was banned. They are not patriots or free speech at all. Granted, it is less obvious since they don't have a phone any longer or a social media platform like twitter, etc. Didn't downvote you (actually upvoted FWIW), but just saying they are left of far left fascist too.

2
DRKMSTR 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah, but as someone who tries to keep an eye on making a bit of money here and there, I don't know of any publicly traded software company less evil than microsoft.

It used to be Google, but dang, times have changed.

I'm hoping GAB goes public.
