Not true at all. Guns change hands with no record of it every single day. I see people swap guns at work from time to time, and that makes 2 guns lost in one transaction. It would take them over 100 years to track down every gun in circulation right now.

You're talking about people that know each other. The legal gun owning community is far stricter than the laws.
