The snowden endorsement has been there for years. Signal uses peer to peer encryption, and only the data streams roll through the signal system. If both (or more) devices are all using signal, the steam is fully encrypted. If there are non signal devices in the message recipients, the message is sent clear text to those devices and can be intercepted.

It's secure as long as all devices are using signal. The devices have the encryption keys, so the servers only transit an encrypted stream of data. If a device is not using signal, then the message is transmitted in clear text and can be intercepted

Yea, grants and donations is very troubling in the end.
I want to know who gave the grants and what was exchange for the grants.

The Enemy uses it believing it is secure from prying eyes, it is not, at least certain agencies are able to read even the encrypted streams between signal users.
I think, anyhow, have read that certain Operators do monitor Enemy comms on Signal and telegram or whatever it is.

There are many who pretend to be antifa and infiltrate the signal group chats. I've no doubts that US intelligence can access most any means of electronic communication. While NSA FBI etc eavesdropping is unavoidable it's nice to know Google, Apple and Facebook won't be datamining my messages on Signal at least. Of course if people are using Google's g-board app for their keyboard then Google will see those keystrokes I guess.
My Family laughed at me for years and years, I told them from the beginning facebook was a spy tool, an evolving virii. Now they understand.

I'll probably install it anyway. Not trying to be a doomer I just found it odd seeing this quote and the latest Jack tweet and all.
I have been using it for a couple of months, I haven't had any links censored, FB messenger will censor and actually remove things in private messages. I don't think it's quite as user friendly on a mobile device because it's hard to maintain a chat style conversation because if you don't catch the notification right away you have to minimize the application you are in to go into the messenger app to reply.
