When it comes to being visited for search warrants or arrest - law enforcement is in evidence collection mode. They are looking for any evidence - however remote - that can tie you to a crime. They are NOT your friends.
Your county sheriff may be the best guy on the planet, and you might have a great friendship with them. That said - if they are there on your property, executing a search/arrest warrant...they will use that relationship against you.
You MUST also state that you want to invoke your right to remain silent. By law they are required to stop questioning you at that point. Simply saying I have nothing to say is not enough.
The Supreme Court has ruled on this very issue several times in recent history after police questioned suspects after they had told them, "they had noting to say" filed suit against the police.
Since you are innocent until proven guilty! The burden of proof is on the state and they must build a case against you! Do not stand witness against yourself! Explicitly state, I want to invoke my right to remain silent until I have council present.

So many warrants have obvious mistakes on them, that make it void for entering.
Incorrect name on the warrant? "That person doesn't live here."
Incorrect address? "This is the incorrect address. Go conduct your search at the correct address."
Has your activity matched the probable cause listed? Start recording and declare they have not done their due diligence - they have no probable cause.
Be brief, and be polite, but be assertive.
Many of these search warrants are vaguely written, so as to be fishing trips to find something they CAN charge you with.
Alternative - Allow them to search, but with your lawyer present and the search fully recorded. Politely tell them you are cooperating, and will continue to cooperate once your lawyer is present.

I also recommend that you tell them that you want the questioning to stop immediately. They are supposed to. They can recommence questioning later, and you have to repeat, I want the questioning to stop.
Be careful on the phone with your attorney if you get one, because it is likely monitored.
Finally, if you are not under arrest, then ask, am I free to go? If they say no, ask if you are under arrest. At that point, they either arrest you, or have to concede you're free to go. Good luck if they show up - they are pros at extracting confessions, even from people that know the rules. Don't think for a moment you will talk your way out of it - you won't. One other point on legal nuances of dealing with law enforcement. I had a cop come to my door with an alleged (I don't think it actually was, but they claimed it was, because cops can lie) arrest warrant for my stepson, who was inside.
I asked him if he had a search warrant, and he said no. I said, well, I guess we're done here, then, aren't we. He then asked me if my stepson was inside. IF I HAD LIED AND SAID NO, that would be obstruction of justice. So I looked at him and said, "I don't have to answer your questions. Have a nice day." The cop turned bright red, and stomped off. True story.
