I thought it was kind of surreal watching the live streams where on one people were calmly walking through the capitol and in another the police were still using tear gas and flashbangs.

The police violence happened after the peaceful tour was facilitated. Cops let all of it happen and then they unleashed hell on unarmed and peaceful protesters. Four unarmed Americans died that day, and we must never forget.
