He was taken to a hospital, where he died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.
According to sources familiar with the matter, authorities believe Sicknick's death was driven by a medical condition. They're also investigating reports that he was attacked with a fire extinguisher or another item at the Capitol, sources said. So far, reports of an attack haven't been confirmed and authorities are hoping to locate video or other imagery from the scene.
Sicknick's family said in a statement, "Many details regarding Wednesday's events and the direct causes of Brian's injuries remain unknown and our family asks the public and the press to respect our wishes in not making Brian's passing a political issue."

That is not entirely accurate. Plenty of footage shows fighting their way in and fighting while being pushed out. It was not universal, but aftwr Babbit was shot especially, folks turned on the cops. Nothing as bad as what happened night in protland for about the last 8 months, but shoving, blunt objects, punching, etc.
People are, and were pissed. So when a few really bad apples pushed through the barricades, they went with them.
Some folks saw the doors open and cops not fighting (they were outnumbered and overrun) so they just walked in, took some photos, and left. Others made one hell of a political statement and are now being charged with trespassing.
May still have been a set up, but not how people are saying. Bowser turned down extra security. WHY? That is the signal. Everything else is noise. Maybe it was gross negligence. Maybe it is how they get their case for retaliation.
Secret Service snipers were at the Ellipse rally and at the front of the Capitol building but not at the Capitol rear at all.
The police line had a short fence and weak police presence. Yes, there was pushing and swinging but protesters on the front line were unarmed in terms of actual weapons and were focused on pushing the line back. Contrasted to the security they have now, as well as the little resistance that police put up before falling back, it seems apparent that this was all staged.
