I have a feeling Kappy transmitted the password without transmitting it, he just said where they should look and gave them the hash so they could confirm it. This way he doesn't have to worry about someone snooping on his communications.

I would say that some random person figured it out by running the text through some basic cipher types online. This is clearly not a password to any file, and there isn't even a known file to access. If he was using it as a dead mans switch, it wouldn't be prudent to use a simple "first words of every sentence" code. Maybe the password is a clue to something else, but to be honest, there would be no need to hide the file, and wouldn't make it work effectively as a dead mans switch.
For a dead mans switch, you'd want that file spread far and wide, on every torrent and file download site, so that if the password does get out someday, there'd be too many copies of it to stop it. If he has a single encrypted file stored somewhere, all someone has to do is find the file and delete it, and they don't even need access to do so, they could just go straight to the data center and remove the files/account from wherever they are physically stored.

So who is Patrick Ryan (the name the poem is attributed to)? Was he a close associate of Kappy? Was there anything else that might have tied to the poem to Kappy? If this poem had an obvious connection to Kappy, then yeah, it seems like it would have been fairly easy for people following this stuff to figure out that it was just a "first-letter" code. Particularly because of the line that starts with ./slack, that really sticks out. But if there wasn't any obvious connection, then I don't see why anyone would bother to look at a random poem and try to find a secret password.

The poem that has the password in plain text as the first letter on each line is public so yes the password could have been guessed from this, or just fed to Lin by anyone
While it's a fun theory it actually makes no sense. Lin knew the password when no one else did so one of the following has to be true:
Lin is the GD rain man and guessed on his first public try. OR Lin was given the password by kappy OR Lin was given the password by whoever figured it out but they never told anyone they figured it out.

I have a feeling Kappy transmitted the password without transmitting it, he just said where they should look and gave them the hash so they could confirm it. This way he doesn't have to worry about someone snooping on his communications.

I think the lingering question now is, where's the files to decrypt? A proper deadmans switch like this would only be useful if everyone actually knew where the file was. It would seem like such a file would be not hidden, but in plain sight.
I would say that some random person figured it out by running the text through some basic cipher types online. In fact, it's kind of silly that it wasn't found sooner given that the hint was clearly there, with random phrases (not entirely meaningless) that were clearly there to accentuate an attribute of why it was written like that, so the first letter of every sentence makes sense.
I think the person just sitting on it just didn't know what to do with it, and I don't think this is the password that actually unlocks the file, seems more like a clue to another hashed password.
I think it's possible that the files have already been erased, because his emblem21 website redirects to a github page that no longer exists and probably hasn't for some time.
What I don't get is why wouldn't he just make the files publicly available so people could decrypt it.

It's not good enough to say Isaac had any real proof. In order for that to have happened, someone would have to of dropped some stuff in his lap. But it is good enough to say that the password is legit.
While I think there's some very evil people out there, I'm not too sure that he got access to that stuff, especially digitally. My guess is any organization operating like he believed, would put everything down on physical files and physical recording mediums.
This is clearly not a password to any file, and there isn't even a known file to access. If he was using it as a dead mans switch, it wouldn't be prudent to use a simple "first words of every sentence" code. Maybe the password is a clue to something else, but to be honest, there would be no need to hide the file, and wouldn't make it work effectively as a dead mans switch.
For a dead mans switch, you'd want that file spread far and wide, on every torrent and file download site, so that if the password does get out someday, there'd be too many copies of it to stop it. If he has a single encrypted file stored somewhere, all someone has to do is find the file and delete it, and they don't even need access to do so, they could just go straight to the data center and remove the files/account from wherever they are physically stored.
So I don't think it's a solvable case. If there ever was anything to it, it wasn't done effectively enough to make it work as a proper dead mans switch.

If there was really events happening right now he would not be given the game plan out. So, either he went of the rocker or he is putting noise out in order to tie down enemies resources.
