While there are many complicated and inconvenient things you can do to avoid Apple, Google, Youtube, here are a few easy things to start that take little effort and are actually better products:
Web Browser: Brave. Actually a much better product. Protects privacy, blocks ads, FAST. Your won't turn back.
Email: Protonmail. Great interface. Encrypted. Admittedly it's rough to change all your bills, to a new address, but sometimes it's nice to have a fresh start anyway. You realize how few emails you actually engage with.
Social Media: Gab and Parler. It's going to be big. Might as well start now while twitter and facebook go the way of myspace.
These are good starts to taking control of your privacy and promote free speech. Advanced steps will include getting rid of smartphones altogether, using cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) as a store of value (banks WILL be assisting big tech with censorship), getting a PO box, etc. But start small. It is VERY empowering.
Inspirational - and, yes, the smart phones are a big deal - every time we use them we cede a little more of our power to the overlords.
Yeah. Ditching smartphone is advanced. I still have a smartphone, but I only carry a crappy flip phone, can only call and text. It's funny though, my peers make fun of me (I'm 34) but younger kids think it's awesome. Teenagers today have grown up seeing their parents buried in their phones 24/7 and they can see it's no way to live. I'm not turning back. Need to find a way around a few 2FA things that rely on the smartphone and I'll be free.
