No brave, brave is based off of chromium which is open source. It can just use extensions from there. You don’t have to log into google to get extensions. You can also get them from GitHub if you want.
you cant get them all from github but most third party ones you can. You just get the file from github if its on there and not proprietary from google. DO NOT USE THE GOOGLE MADE EXTENSIONS though. they can track you then.
I'm not fluent in the parlance or techno-jargon. But from what I understand Brave can use extensions made for chrome. Doesn't necessarily mean it IS chrome.

Basilisk and Palemoon are forked from firefox and have their own extensions. There's also Falkon which is built from the Qt WebEngine that has its own extensions as well.

how do i get it from github? Also i noticed when i go to duckduckgo.com in brave it says site is not secure ?

It's based on Chromium, not Chrome (if it were based on Chrome it wouldn't make sense).
