I agree 100% with this statement. In no way did I mean to imply that Trump is guilty or should feel guilty.
Intellectually this is easy to get. Emotionally, though, I think this would have hit me like a ton of bricks. To have so many people show up out of loyalty, and then to have one brutally murdered for acting (peacefully!) on that loyalty.
If Trump really does have some kind of master plan then this would have no effect. He'd understand that she is likely the first of many sacrifices that will be required.
If, on the other hand, he really did just ask people to DC to put on one last show of support before the vote, and he didn't expect action beyond playing out the legal process leading up to that, then I could see a totally unexpected brutal murder shifting his priorities. I could see it making him decide that the process was now over and the most important thing to do was protect lives.
I hope that isn't the case. I hope the rumors are true and things are actually happening behind the scenes right now. On the chance that they are not, though, I thought it might be worth taking a moment to empathise with the guy. The burden he's carrying right now is very very heavy.

I understand how someone could come to that conclusion but I would hope that he and those around him are smarter than that. The idea that the 80 million americans should just roll over and take it "in order to save lives" Only costs more and more lives in the future from all sides and factions. Many who are loving the current insane actions taken by legislatures, judiciaries, media, and tech companies, will be victims of the exact things they think are so great right now. This is the brink of a precipice. The future is looking dark and the question is how long that darkness lasts and how many die before truth and freedom are reestablished. It could be weeks and a few, it could be months and a bunch, it could be years and millions.
You're absolutely right. This is no time for sentiment, and Trump is in the same boat as every military commander (and every president) has ever been in. People die in wars, and leaders have to live with sending them to their deaths. This is, without a doubt, war.
The hardest part, I think, would be the burden of spending those lives wisely. It's horrible to send people to their deaths, but even more so if you allow their sacrifice to be wasted.
Either way, I'm glad I'm not in his shoes. A born leader of men I am not.
the only person at all responsible for her death is the person who pulled the trigger and shot her. No one else.
