You're absolutely right. This is no time for sentiment, and Trump is in the same boat as every military commander (and every president) has ever been in. People die in wars, and leaders have to live with sending them to their deaths. This is, without a doubt, war.

The hardest part, I think, would be the burden of spending those lives wisely. It's horrible to send people to their deaths, but even more so if you allow their sacrifice to be wasted.

Either way, I'm glad I'm not in his shoes. A born leader of men I am not.
