I'm suddenly reminded of Bonnie Tyler's 'I Need a Hero.' This is the west these days? No strong men in charge? No harsh reprisals or fierce defense of basic law, decency or just to that internal sense of 'This is NOT right'? No strength, no heroes, no spirited defenders, just indignation and quiet resignation out of fear of some kind of reprisal that will hurt more than the wound to your soul when you cringe away.
