Should not be for what we wish our country to be or what it is we wish to see happen in it. What we should be asking is for God to show us His will, and illuminate the reasons for it, so that we may be in alignment with His wishes for our country. And for protection, as much as he wills possible from the coming persecutions, which the Christ Jesus says we must endure for a time.
