Ron Paul was never about crazy backroom conspiracy theories.

I will say Ron Paul did a hell of a lot to spread libertarian ideas, and even if he didn't win a presidential election, he's easily on the top 10 list of (maybe top 5) of people who've spread libertarian ideas. Aiming for the moon, but "only" getting into orbit is still a fairly big accomplishment.
