Based on what information I have so far, it was a mixture of agitators, and QAnons. Apparently, there was some talk of this on QAnon boards before it happened. Some people speculate that bad actors (perhaps even the FBI) were the ones behind the idea, and entrapped the QAnon people into sabotaging Trump. Obviously that's hard to prove, but I think almost all Trump supporters realize what happened at the capital was a really stupid idea. Specifically any violence that occurred, and timing it right as the election contest is beginning.
