I read a comment below an article on American Thinker that, in my opinion, sums up how many of us feel today. I thought I'd share it here. I didn't write it, so all credit goes to the author (included at the top of the comment). Link to article (the comment is the top comment below the article). https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2021/01/worrisome_signs_the_capitol_breach_was_planned_to_discredit_trump_supporters_an_eyewitness_account_comments.html#comments-container

"I am so sick and tired of authors like this that just continue to beat around the bush and never ever get to the real issue at hand. First, the rule of law is dead. Can we at least admit that to ourselves. Second, each and every institution that exists to protect the republic and uphold the rule of law is corrupt and no longer serves the purpose for which it was created. Third, corruption and theft in elections is not only widespread but flaunted out in the open for all to see with both political parties giving conservatives the middle finger. And last, but definitely not least, is the absolute treachery of the GOP. So tell me, why in the hell would I give a damn as to what the left, the mainstream media and the GOP think as to what I represent anymore and why would I waste one moment left in my life trying to explain it to them or try to reason with them. Tell me, with all that has gone wrong, when will there be the time for me to take up arms and become violent? What other form of treachery and tyranny do I allow to be hoisted upon my GOD given rights before I can do something other than speak a harsh word? I am told that violence is never the answer no matter what atrocities are committed against me and mine. Sorry to break this to the author, but to me and millions of other patriots violence appears to be the only thing left for us as an option. Can we not at least be able to defend ourselves? Tell me, what else do I allow the left to take from me, my wealth, my free speech, my liberty, my life? Will there ever be a moment when I can defend myself and my interests or do I just turn the other cheek and let them have it all while I curl up in a fetal position and suck my thumb. I keep hearing that we cannot become the "mob" and use violence to resolve our differences. If violence doesn't resolve differences then why in the hell do we spend so much money on our military. The Army and the Marines ain't goodwill ambassadors and the Air Force ain't angels sent to bring the world the Gospel. All those so called "sacred institutions" mean almost nothing to me anymore. The time for any peaceful compromise came and went long ago. It wasn't my side that drew first blood and yet it is me, so I am told, that has to remain calm and not resort to violence. Some who still claim to be on our side better catch up in a hurry or they will be consumed by the coming inferno."
It's as if I wrote it myself. Even Russ Limbaugh said it in so many words. We cannot coexist in the same country with ideals so different than ours.
And more importantly when you're opposition is playing Total War, Beat your ass, breaking every law at what point do you fight fire with fire. I guess it's not so easy fight when your comfortable sucking on its tit.
That's exactly how I felt. I couldn't have written it any better than the author. As to your other point, apathy always precedes the collapse of civilizations. I hope we can be the exception.
Now we wait for the Trigger. How long will it be before they come for our guns? That's probably the start of the War
I think, if that starts to happen, it will take a bit for a reaction, because unless they actually go door to door, people just won't comply (see Virginia and New York).
