Anyone who hasn't yet, turn off automatic updates - Apple is allegedly (many many sources warning about this) updating phones so they do not receive Federal Emergency Broadcast Messages

My understanding is that by law that phone carriers cannot turn off or delete the EBS from their phones.

That would sound reasonable, but a lot of funky things have been happening.

Apple has deplatformed Parler and Amazon has as well, and within those discussions MANY people, some of whom always seem to "know," warned of that.

Bottom line, can't hurt to delay an update just in case. I never update anyway, seems to me there is always a "bug" or a problem after an update. Good to wait a bit and let them sort that stuff out. IMHO

I turned off my auto update as soon as I bought my phone. Now it just notifies me that updates are available, and I choose if I want to update. I usually just ignore the notifications.

So, after Jan 20th, they are going to release another update to "turn it back on"? And hopefully the large numbers of tech people (who found the battery hacks a few years ago) will just over look it when they comb the source code of this release. Or maybe they are in on it too??

This is the stupidest Lin larp yet. Even if you think that Apple could get away with this, you think that Biden would just be cool with them taking away his administration's ability to use the EAS? This stuff is getting retarded.
