I was working a garage, just as a tech, when they first started producing some of their models using the same engines and drivetrains as Fiat. My god, they were so bad. Not only were they the most inconvenient vehicles to work on (no joke, like... just a fucking oil change was ridiculous. I was by far the fastest tech we had, could do most cars in about 3-5 minutes, some of the bigger pain in the ass cars with skid plates, etc, might take me 10. These were nearly impossible, required two people [one top side, one bottom], etc, just to get at a buried canister filter), but it was all plastic garbage where random pieces would literally be breaking off (or already missing when the car rolled in). If I was underneath, sometimes I didn't even know I was under a jeep/thought I was under a tiny, 2000lb Fiat. I feel bad for anyone that didn't know what happened to Jeep and bought one thinking they were getting a tank like they were once known for being.
Even Bon Jovinand Cher could not draw a crowd. And the two public events showed the same dealership Jeep’s parked in the same spot. All staged.
Meanwhile modern jeep/mopar parts are produced in china
