I hate to break it to you, but "social credit" came here decades ago in that little SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER card you carry around with you, without which YOU COULD NOT WORK, HAVE A BANK ACCOUNT, BUY A HOUSE, DRIVE, OR GET ANY UTILITIES--FOR STARTERS.

ABsolutely right. When social security numbers were first issued by FDR's administration, there was a promise that they would never be used as a national ID. Within a few years, FDR used social security numbers combined with the 1940 census to round up japanese Americans and put them in internment camps. The way the U.S. government distinguished between japanese Americans and Chinese Americans was by SS numbers and the Census.
