As an IT guy who supports a couple dozen offices I'm already getting asked by clients over the last 48 hours what alternatives are out there... Please give feedback on below categories for alternatives to the big tech companies. I just bought a relevant domain name and will create a page that provides this info once collected. Will share with the masses!

Online Shopping

Mobile phone manufacturer

Mobile service

Internet service

Computer hardware

Computer Operating System

Browser

Search Engine

Office applications

Email hosting

Cloud storage

Social Media (like Twitter)

Social Media (like Facebook)

Social Media Videos

Internet payments

TV manufacturer

TV media player

Movie/Show streaming

should be stickied but mods won't do it

Social media: gab
YouTube: bitchute, LRBY, peertube instances (like video.maga.host)

OS:
- ubuntu - what you give to your infant
- debian - the average person's OS (just pick the KDE desktop)
- arch - easy enough if you follow a video guide (use youtube-dl!)
- gentoo - there's a reason its a meme, but its super-powerful once its working

PC:
AMD CPU
AMD GPU (open source drivers built-in on linux)
Atheros WiFi (open source drivers built-in on linux)

Phone: Librem USA (two kilobux, only us made phone?), gab phone?

TV media player:
UK-made raspberrypi with kodi+retropie
Make sure you buy from a UK seller to get a made-in-UK one rather than chyna.

(is anyone having formatting issues with this post?)

Ubuntu seems to be the best fit for most people because of exactly how you described.

Saddened that Commodore 64 wasn't on your list though.

Good idea..

I should add

The whole g00gle suite thing is very handy.

Such as sheets, docs, the drive.

Etc..

I’d suggest reposting tomorrow early evening as it’s a bit slow late Sunday.. I’d like to see the suggestions myself.

Video... rumble.com bitchute.com brighteon.com banned.video tv.gab.com. Not the greatest alternatives, but everyone is working on it.

Browsers: Brave and DIssenter (DIssenter is also a plugin for browsers that adds a comment section to all webpages) | Search Engine: DuckDuckGo | Facebook Alt: Minds.com | Twitter Alt: Gab and Parler | YouTube Alt: Bitchute and LBRY | Reddit Alt: Steemit | PayPal Alt: SubscribeStar | Mobile Phone: Supposedly Gab is making their own phone too

I hope these help!

No problem! Happy to help others get on alt tech and ditch the big companies.
