I am upset about what Pence did, however I keep thinking about what Trump said in his speech on the 6th.
He stated that while it would take courage for Pence to send the electors back, he then stated it would take more courage not to intervene. Still puzzling me unless there was some reason certification of Biden would actually be bad for the left, but Pence would have to also know that his name would be treated like mud by the people he stood by for 4 years. Perhaps Trump gave him the option and it was up to Pence to decide which path to take. I can see how a decision of this magnitude which could destroy Pence's reputation would be something Trump wouldn't force on Pence if they were working together on the fraud thing.

Interesting theory. I do remember that comment from Trump and I didn’t know what to make of it. I would certainly prefer to believe your theory rather than he’s a snake. If that is how it pans out, man, that really would be like a movie.

Pence had to count the votes in order to create a catalyst for people to enter the capital. If the capital wasn't breached then undercover folks wouldn't have been able to steal laptops and hard drives. By counting the votes Pence makes himself look like a back stabber and temporarily becomes the most hated guy on the right. I'm sure people out there want to kill him for what he did. So obviously, it took more courage to do what he did rather than sending votes back to state legislatures for re-certification.
