I think they'll find someone else willing to host, just a matter of when. It was incredibly stupid to rely on Amazon as the lynchpin of your company though.

Unbelieveable. That's establishment GOP level of incompetence.

Well the earlier estimate was 1 week of downtime. If its going to be more than that they are finished. Sites like twitter are based on habits. If you don't go to a website for 2 weeks you lose the habit and are much less likely to go back once it returns. They'll also be gone for the weeks in which everyone is trying to find an alternative. People will have found those alternatives by the time they come back.

agree. did the CEO of Parler not know that Jeff Bezos is a fucking CCP fluffer?

p8riot 4 points ago +4 / -0

Mistakes are opportunities to grow. They will be stronger for this. All the buzz may create a fertile fundraising campaign to self serve like gab.

2
SizzleDick32 2 points ago +2 / -0

the main fact is TRUMP IS ON GAB. parler is done.

3
UnidentifiedPa3 3 points ago +3 / -0

Problem is, Gab can't handle the traffic right now. They couldn't handle the traffic WITH Parler, and now that Parler is gone, the site is inaccessible. LuLz

Is he really on it though? I thought they were just mirroring his tweets so if he ever decided to join he’d have an account up and running for him?

2
friedchicken 2 points ago +2 / -0

It’s not over. Not now, not by a long shot.

1
mintscape 1 point ago +1 / -0

I hate to beat on them when they are down but you are completely correct.

I think Gab will be the big winner out of this, they also have gone through all of this and are much stronger because of it.

ChynaBiden 1 point ago +1 / -0

yeah, I wish the CEO had seen the danger of hosting on fucking Amazon

Amazon started as an eBookstore and reinvested profit back into R&D which grew to be AWS as it is today.

Since Gab invested in infrastructure, in principle it can follow to same route to establish cloud services that are unencumbered by big tech and their politics.

3
Pierre_Delectoes 3 points ago +3 / -0

Except Amazon made like 95% of its growth in the last 5 years and that was a result of rampant stock speculation. Gab would never be allowed to list on any major stock exchange. Fucking NASDAQ is requiring companies to have minorities on their board or be delisted so you can imagine how they'll receive someone like Gab.

1
ArchVileRespawned 1 point ago +1 / -0

All that means is that we need to setup our stock exchange. Basically, we'll just build an entire civilization over time. I'm only half-kidding, too. We really need to just start building everything we'll ever need ourselves. It will be a multigenerational effort.

ding ding ding we have a winner

3
mintscape 3 points ago +3 / -0

Your post made me think of section 230, it provides protection for these Internet giants because they were meant to be a common carrier like the Telcos,

The way those scummy big tech companies have abused that is beyond criminal.

UsernameRedacted [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

I took a peek at it. Prolly gonna try it out eventually. Hopefully they have an app.

4
SizzleDick32 4 points ago +5 / -1

dude you need to catch up. gab, parler, everyone conservative is banned from google play and i phone store thingy. but you go to gab.com on your phone and bookmark the page then you can call it an "app". GAB is coming out with their own phone operating system so you don't have to rely on cucks. meanwhile Parler built on AWS.... and are getting de-platformed... cause they are idiots or shills take your pick.

1
UsernameRedacted [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I knew all of that tho... What else do I need to catch up on??

5
z89101 5 points ago +5 / -0

off-shore, Eastern Europe, maybe even Australia...

Good hunting to Parler.

CastleBravo 8 points ago +8 / -0

Servers in Russia would be hilarious TBH.

2
kenkra 2 points ago +2 / -0

or in China, Alibaba Cloud is the chinese AWS and they have servers in the US I think.

The US big tech hate white people so much that now white movements needs to be hosted by the Chinese lol

That's what happens when white-hating liberals run a country.

Maybe instead of complaining about being attacked by Gab's owner CEO whatever guy, Dan Bongino should have reached out and talked to them about using their frigging software host whatever. Love me some Bongino but seriously.... More in fighting isn't gonna help. Should've asked them for advice.

3
SizzleDick32 3 points ago +3 / -0

if parler were that friggin stupid in the first place why would gab let them in their machines? GAB did it right fuck Parler, the UI sucks they are idiots and the name is gay. it all works out for the best.

Needs to Team up with GAB, they have their own infrastructure

2
glasses2020 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's not about infrastructure, it's about operations tools. Most modern companies rely on hundreds of SAAS (software as a service) tools to run their customer management systems, contact centers, project management systems and business intelligence tools.

There is also a ton of 3rd party software on the infrastructure/architecture side of things that would be a HUGE change if you had to swap it out with something open source or roll your own. I could build an entire server in my closet if I wanted to, but in order to run my monitoring, deployment pipeline and QA tools, requires software licenses and I could be blacklisted from those services as well.

1
rustyjarz 1 point ago +1 / -0

Thanks, I understand Cloud. I think the other 'big' Cloud providers are refusing to host their system. Cunts.

2
Pierre_Delectoes 2 points ago +2 / -0

Its not just the host though. Their email and payment processors are bailing on them. Their development tool vendors are probably cancelling licenses. Even if you have a server to run your site on, its not much good if nobody can make a new account or change a password because the email and text message providers are blocking you.

2
smartass 2 points ago +2 / -0

Honestly, it was a TERRIBLE decision to use AWS in the first place given that Bezos is as anti-American as they come. Lesson learned.

2
mintscape 2 points ago +2 / -0

As someone that was around in tech since before the Internet existed, Parler's leadership worries me.

How can they be leading an Internet business and went with these woke companies? Also it is clear they had zero contingency plan in place.

I didn't know they were running on AWS until another Pede mentioned it a few days ago, I made a comment that was very risky, then two days later Amazon pulled the plug on them.

Then can easily get this back up fast if they have good people, rack space at colos with high bandwidth is easy to find and they should be able to get servers fast.

Makes me love and respect our amazing mods even more, talk about competent, our mods are the best of the best. Hey u/Doggos you're fucking brilliant man as well as the rest of your team, don't think for one second people don't notice how damn good you guys are.

This makes me so sad. I will not lose hope though...

CrankyCrab 1 point ago +1 / -0

Parler finally went down. I did not see any updates from the President's account.

What happened to Parler is upsetting, but I am hoping this will be a blessing in disguise and a serious up the ass woke moment for many people. Maybe this move was intentional so everyone can see how deep the corrupt tentacles are.

What are amazon etc going to think? That they aren't going to eventually just find another platform in a few weeks tops? How does amazon plan to deal with the obliteration of their reputation and trust as someone who could be placed as the host of someone's data forever out?

6
UsernameRedacted [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

They're relying on the belief that they've embedded themselves enough in society to be immune to criticism and boycotts. That, along with the increasing support from the left, and the surge in revenue during Covid, is just going to continue to embolden big tech.

4
Pierre_Delectoes 4 points ago +4 / -0

Amazon isn't worried about their reputation with the masses. They are making a billion dollar in-kind donation to Joe Biden's administration. They are certainly expecting a return on that investment.

1
NotMyGovernor 1 point ago +1 / -0

If they're organizing the destruction of small business and are 'not needing our money', they really aren't going to like the organized tax strike that is going to be happening.

2
Rayder 2 points ago +2 / -0

So question for lawyers.. people make money and advertise using parler right... doesn't this open up amazon to a ton of Tortious interference lawsuits, not to mention breach of contract with parler and potentially an antitrust case?
