You’re gonna get downvoted to hell, and I’m suspect of you as a new account, but you’re not wrong, half the stickied posts leading up to the 6th were discussing Bringing guns to DC.
For some reason we’ve just collectively decided to forget that half the people here were talking about throwing ‘commies’ out of helicopters, or the order we should hang congressional leaders in.
It was stupid then, and credit to the many people here who advised as such, but the collective memory-holeing is fucking bizarre.
Either everyone here has had a change of heart, and violence is no longer the answer, or people are lying. I was red-pilled because of Dem lies, it’s really fucking annoying to see it from Pedes.
None of what you said changes the fact that the protesters were unarmed.

From a purely tactical defense strategy, setting aside who was on what side or whatever. You can make a case that Ashli “fucked around and found out”. At some point, before protestors reach their targets, security has to set a hard barrier. She was the first person to breach that doorway. You had people chanting “hang Mike Pence” and “Nancy. Nancy.” You think they weren’t going to have a hard perimeter?
We broke windows, scaled barriers and assaulted cops. Don’t lie to me, I saw it live and watched footage afterwards.
I don’t care if it was 3, 300 or 3,000 people who were “violent”. Tactically, the Capitol police was defending against a breach and protecting Congress critters (again, set aside the morals of doing such).
All this mealy mouthed, “they didn’t have guns” “peaceful protest” bullshit is rewriting what actually happened, the same way the MSM is spinning this, “violent horde descended on DC” be fucking honest we win when discussion is based on the truth. We’ve seen, with the QLARP, what happens when we fall for bullshit fairytales.
Yes, there were people in that crowd seeking to harm members of Congress. It was to protect the integrity of our republic. There is no shame in that, and we shouldn’t shy away from it. It may have been a strategic mistake, GEOTUS let us know his feelings, but it doesn’t make it something to walk away from.

Yes if they had guns in large amounts you would have seen a different story but they did not and that is not mealy mouthed. You see officers were arresting people and checking. Something that was not being done to left protests.
In all of the other protests in the US do you remember anyone being arrested for gun possession? Nope. Yet we see them marching around with rifles in the CHAZ and other protests in WI and such?
"Hard Barrier"? Last I saw was officers on knees while national guard declined. Police stations turned over to the mob. I did see videos of capital police moving barriers and opening doors and waving people in.
They have national guard on the streets for weeks to show the war zone and push the narrative that the right might show up again. Same as the protestors are peaceful and the violent were the right wing that infiltrated narrative that is common.
They said pipe bombs were there too but I doubt it. Like seriously doubt it. And nothing, any news source, no commentator could convince me otherwise. I saw the videos, Patriots were walking around looking at shit, 3 ppl if I remember were breaking shit(crisis actors).

Yeah clearly a lie. Dirty cops will pull you over for no reason and say “we’ve had break ins in the area and this vehicle fits the description.” Always bullshit. “Pipe bombs found nearby” is the fake terrorism equivalent.
Most of those posts were specifically saying to leave guns in Virginia. The overwhelming majority of protestors were not armed, if some were well then their were no shots fired, no fires started i'm aware of, no stabbings, and no explosions.
So it's not like this was a violent mob armed to the teeth looking to start a war.
I agree with the other guy in regards to the lead up but yours is the correct perspective.
The lead up was a lot of hype. Sure I was considering going armed too but I had to pass through two roadblocks. Risky proposition getting picked off before you even get to the main event.
I saw on a live stream that they were trying to light camera equipment on fire. They got into a CNN tent or something and grabbed up all their hardware, the tent, chairs, piled it up and tried to light it on fire.
I mean, I don't really care about CNN, fuck them, but that's a lot of money in equipment and it seemed like needless destruction.
I understand the desire, but at least steal the shit and use it for yourself if you're going to do that. Their camera's are expensive as fuck.
I didn't see, that but I agree that it's needless destruction. I'm not going to get high and mighty and say it was a particularly bad thing but not really the focus. Although when you see what CNN is doing now it is probably fairly justified.

We can’t pretend we weren’t advocating violence in the lead up to the event. We are systematically erasing the truth about our community’s posture in the lead up to the 6th. That is my biggest complaint.
Talking about helicopters is so over the top it cannot be construed as violent. It's jokes. We don't have access to helicopters.

I refuse to believe that anyone truly thought that violence without organization and mission objectives would amount to anything other than negativity for our cause. Anyone who says otherwise makes me doubt their loyalty and/or their sanity.
I don’t disagree with your premise, but go back through my post history, I was frequently heavily downvoted for pointing out that we were woefully unprepared for an actual violent confrontation and we shouldn’t be talking about that in the open, anyway. Remember all the “fuck optics” talk? All of the mocking of people who warned against espousing violence for not being sufficiently dedicated to the cause?
And regardless of wether anybody “truly thought” violence was or was not the answer, mods were stickying multiple posts suggesting it was so either they were reckless idiots, or they supported violent tactics we have now decided as a community to disavow. Whatever the case, we should be honest about it, understand where we made mistakes and figure out how to be more effective next time. We suffered a crushing loss. GEOTUS has nine days left, he hasn’t been heard from in 96 hours, to the extent Republicans were our allies they are completely out of power And by all accounts Trump has less popular support than he did a week ago (note I’m not saying that is fair or justified).
Without looking at the actual facts and not some infowars/gateway pundit spin, we cannot figure out how to do better next time.

But that isn’t the choice. The mods had a great post a few days ago saying; “we support the President, he has called for peace.” Good. From here on out, we are a non-violent resistance movement. To be fair I think a large portion (obviously not all) of the people advocating violence were infiltrators here. I genuinely do.
