There have been multiple accounts that this is the case, but none official. What is known is that on the day this supposedly took place the skies went dark, i.e. all military planes have turned off their transponders during the night. This is an unprecedented event on such a scale as far as I am aware.

So, maybe, but not verified. Take it with a grain of salt, as you should with all news right now. I think we might be in the dark for a while.
