i remember reading some post on here from a fellow pede talking about a video in dc with the NG he wanted to know of they were armed because apparently being armed would distinguish between the type of NG idk some more hopiem for everyone. Gotta huff every last bit of it.

Unsure if the DC guys are armed with rifles or not, unless the rifles are being carried by vehicle. Armed soldiers marching in DC would cause a much bigger stir if they were carrying openly, so I'd expect concealed carry such as compact SMG or PDWs in their rucks or something, and a service pistol.

The convoy in TX is definitely armed, you can see the top-mounted guns on them.

EDIT: at ~50 seconds you can see the infantryman behind that vehicle carrying a rifle.

We have always convoyed for FTX (field training exercise) with weapons.

Impossible to say for sure right now.

Most likely. I would still carry my m249 for exercises but no live rounds.

Even when on guard duty you weren’t issued ammo. We were told to have the MPs do the shooting.

These guys aren't on guard duty or on a base.

We would travel between bases in Texas and surrounding states for exercises.

Well no shit. 249 with live rounds is a crew serve and a bitch to do.

If they are traveling with ammo, it probably isn’t loaded right now. The risk of misfire before mission go time would fuck up any major coordination.

You and I both know that you don’t give live ammo to privates until you’re sure you want holes in everything in that area.
