Posted inside the conservative treehouse

Two FBI agents just showed up at my door asking about my 17-year old son being at the Capitol. My wife and I gave them an earful. An “anonymous” tip (probably from some lefty friend of his) said he was inside the building. He wasn’t. I told them he was with me and my wife and that we were abiding by our civil rights to peacefully assemble outside of the Capitol. I said I could give them other witnesses (they refused, just said they were following up on the tip).

I then lectured them about how dangerous this situation is, that they are federal police showing up at the door of an American because of their political beliefs. I told them that trust has completed eroded in the FBI. I asked them, “Do you have kids?” One agent said, “I have five.” Then I said, “As a father, do you understand how dangerous this situation is? Someone who doesn’t like your son or daughter could ‘rat’ on them and have the police knock on their door for thought crimes.”

Eventually the two agents admitted they thought this was BS and they didn’t even want to waste their time and effort on this. Entire conversation took about 20 minutes, but I gave them a piece of my mind. My wife was very upset and they could tell and they kept apologizing.

Welcome to USA 2021.

NEVER talk to FBI. Just politely tell them you will not talk to them. If you trip up on ONE tiny mundane detail they WILL prosecute you.

The other replies are correct. In addition:

The only thing you say to law enforcement questioning you is "I have nothing to say".

If arrested you say "I'm invoking my right to remain silent"

Also "I want to speak to my lawyer"

That works for now. But in a world where our civil liberties have been wiped out they will just start arresting people anyways. No rights means no rights. You will comply or your world will be destroyed. You simply don't refuse in a Communist nation.

No this is really dumb. You do not talk to the police. From the moment they arrest you it is all a trick to try to get you to say something that can be used in court. They do this hundreds of times a year, they have lots of practice, they are extremely good at it. Do not talk to them and record the conversation yourself if it is legal in your state to do so.

I agree. You don't talk to the police. But guess what. Prepare to be tortured until you do. This is how they do things in Communist countries. And this is how they will soon start doing things here. By all means, hold out for as long as you can. But by the end of the day. You will tell them whatever they want you to say.

Yup. Always lawyer up, even (or especially) if you were not involved in a situation.

Blackmail was always the FBI's purpose.

Full text of "J. Edgar Hoover - G-Man In A G-String"

Hoover clung to power for almost 50 years as America's secret police chief, maintaining his position largely through the voluminous files he accumulated on the peccadilloes of prominent politicians: financial, sexual, and criminal.

Anyone remember Filegate?

The White House FBI files controversy of the Clinton Administration, often referred to as Filegate, arose in June 1996 around improper access in 1993 and 1994 to FBI security-clearance documents. Craig Livingstone, director of the White House's Office of Personnel Security, improperly requested, and received from the FBI, background reports concerning several hundred individuals without asking permission. The revelations provoked a strong political and press reaction because many of the files covered White House employees from previous Republican administrations, including top presidential advisors. Under criticism, Livingstone resigned from his position. Allegations were made that senior White House figures, including First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, may have requested and read the files for political purposes, and that the First Lady had authorized the hiring of the underqualified Livingstone.
